CLUB HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Newcastle United joined the Football Aid family in 2001 and continued to host events until 2003 at St James' Park. Legends involved in those early games included Peter Beardsley, Bobby Moncur, Mick Martin and Kenny Wharton with the match in 2003 even featuring a cameo appearance by Manager at the time Sir Bobby Robson!

The Club hosted the inaugural Legends Master Class back in 2005, with 28 Magpie Mad fans gaining an exclusive insight into the day in the life of a pro, by taking part in a day's training and match action at the Club's famed Academy training ground. Since 2007, the action has moved back to St James' Park, with fans' favourites like Peter Beardsley, Mick Martin, John Anderson and Ian Bogie thrilling the ever excitable St James faithful.

2008 POST EVENT UPDATE

This year’s event at St James' Park was a huge success, with both teams doing themselves proud under the floodlights in front of the enthusiastic crowd. We would like to thank Toon legends Ian Bogie and John Anderson for their excellent support on the night. A full match report will be available in our Match Reports section soon.
