CHARITY INFORMATION

The Football Aid events at Chelsea FC over the past 2 years have helped to raise £48,000 for their nominated charity, CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity. The money has been used to help fund a CLIC Sargent Youth Development Worker at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. 

CLIC Sargent Youth Development Worker, Elizabeth Banberry from Withington, Manchester, works with young people with cancer or leukaemia between the ages of 13 to 25 years old.  On receiving the grant from Field of Dreams, she explained, “Undergoing treatment for cancer or leukaemia can make many young people feel extremely isolated, resulting in low self-esteem and it often means you are unable to see your friends for some time. I am extremely thankful for Football Aid and Field of Dreams’ support as their funding allows me to continue in my role and allow these children to come together, rebuild their confidence and feel less isolated.”

Laura Serratrice, Trust Fundraising Manager, CLIC Sargent continued, “With only 0.25% of our income coming from the government, CLIC Sargent relies almost entirely on public donations, fundraising and money from grant giving organisations such as Football Aid. This is the second grant we have received from Football Aid, and we are immensely grateful for their support and to Chelsea Football Club for nominating CLIC Sargent for this generous donation."

January 2010 Update - Chelsea 2007 & 2008 match details - £3,667 to CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading children's cancer charity, offering all round care and support.

"We are hugely grateful to Football Aid / Field of Dreams for their support, pro-activity and efficiency in delivering such a fantastic service."

An additional £1,666 went to Right to Play, who have a mission to improve the lives of children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world by using the power of sport and play.
