CLUB HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Club Ambassador John Hendrie made his Football Aid debut in 2005 as the playing Legend for the 'Away' team. Hendrie seemed every bit as overwhelmed by his return to The Riverside as the rest of our participants, charging into the Home dressing room at half time by mistake! The prolific striker became a Football Aid Ambassador the following year and fellow Boro heroes Steve Vickers, Curtis Fleming, Robbie Mustoe, Mark Proctor, Lennie Lawrence and local radio celebrity Bernie Slaven have all joined him by taking part in our lively events at The Riverside in recent years.

AVAILABILITY FOR SEASON 2009

Unfortunately Middlesbrough FC recently confirmed that due to other end of season pitch commitments they won't be able to host a match this season. However the club have indicated that they would be keen to support us every 2nd year, meaning that at this stage the possibility remains that they could host an event in 2010.

2008 POST EVENT UPDATE

This year’s event at The Riverside was a huge success, with both teams doing themselves proud in front of the enthusiastic crowd on the day. We would like to thank Boro legends Lennie Lawrence and Bernie Slaven for their excellent support in Managing the teams on the day.
